Foreigner’s Visa for Visiting Indonesia

Visit visas are given to foreigners who will travel to Indonesia for visits such as for government duties, education, social culture, tourism, business, family, journalism, or to stop by to continue their journey to another country.

Visa is a written statement, either manually or electronically, given by an authorized official to travel in Indonesian Territory and is the basis for granting a Stay Permit. Every foreigner who enters Indonesian territory is required to have a legitimate and valid visa unless otherwise determined based on the provisions of statutory regulations or international agreements.

Visit Visa

Visas consist of a Visit Visa and a Limited Stay Visa. A visit visa must be used within a maximum period of 90 days from the date of issuance, if it is not used the visa will be declared invalid. Visit visas consist of single-entry visit visa and multiple-entry visit visa.

A. Single-Entry Visit Visa

Single-entry visit visa can be granted to Foreigners for stay in Indonesian Territory for a maximum period of 180 Days or 60 Days, from the date the Entry Certificate is issued. Requirements for a single-entry visit visa, as follows:

  1. Travel documents with the following conditions:
    • Passport that is still valid for at least 12 months for the application for a single-entry visit visa with a validity period of 180 days;
    • Passport that is still valid for at least six months for the application for a single-entry visit visa with a validity period of 60 days;
    • Passport that is still valid for at least 12 months for foreigners without citizenship.
  2. proof of guarantee from the Guarantor, except for tourism, family activities, continuing trips to other countries, business, attending meetings, purchasing goods, making journalistic visits, and pre-investment;
  3. proof of living expenses while in Indonesian Territory;
  4. recent color photograph; And
  5. other documents that explain the purpose of the foreigner’s arrival.

The procedure for applying single-entry visit visa, as follows:

  1. check the required documents;
  2. fill in data, scan files, and print application receipts;
  3. verification of payment of immigration fees based on the regulation;
  4. profiling and verification;
  5. agreement;
  6. personalization, printing, and signing the Visit Visa; And
  7. Visa issuance.

B. Multiple-Entry Visit Visa

Multiple-entry visit visa for the first time can only be granted to foreigners for a period of one year, 2 (two) years, or 5 (five) years. If you wish to obtain a multi-entry visit visa with a period of 10 years, the foreigner must have entered Indonesian territory using a multiple-entry visit visa with a validity period of 5 (five) years within the last 3 (three) years. Requirements for a multiple-entry visit visa include:

  1. Travel documents with the following conditions:
    • Passport that is still valid for a minimum of six years for applications for a Multiple-Entry Visit Visa with a validity period of five years;
    • Passport that is still valid for a minimum of five years for applications for a Multiple-Entry Visit Visa with a validity period of four years;
    • Passport that is still valid for a minimum of four years for applications for a Multiple-Entry Visit Visa with a validity period of three years;
    • Passport that is still valid for a minimum of three years for applications for a Multiple-Entry Visit Visa with a validity period of two years;
    • Passport that is still valid for a minimum of 18 months for applications for a Multiple-Entry Visit Visa with a validity period of one year;
    • Passport that is still valid for at least 12 months for applications for a Multiple-Entry Visit Visa with a validity period of six months.
  2. proof of guarantee from the Guarantor, except for tourism, family activities, continuing trips to other countries, business, attending meetings, purchasing goods, making journalistic visits, and pre-investment;
  3. proof of living expenses while in Indonesian Territory;
  4. recent color photograph; And
  5. other documents explaining the purpose/purpose of the foreigner’s arrival

The procedure for applying multiple-entry visit visa, as follows:

  1. check the required documents;
  2. fill in data, scan files, and print application receipts;
  3. verification of payment of immigration fees based on the regulation;
  4. profiling and verification;
  5. agreement;
  6. personalization, printing, and signing the Visit Visa; And
  7. Visa issuance.

C. Visa on Arrival

Visit visa can also be granted to Foreigners on arrival at certain Immigration Checkpoints. The period of visa on arrival is 30 days and can be extended. Requirements for a visa on arrival are:

  1. Passport that is still valid for at least 6 (six) months;
  2. return tickets or season tickets to continue the journey to another country except for the crew of the Transport Equipment who will stop by to join the ship and continue the journey to another country; And
  3. proof of payment of immigration fees based on the regulation.

The procedure for applying visa on arrival, as follows:

  1. Immigration check the required documents;
  2. Fill in data;
  3. Payment code, and pay the immigration fees based on the regulation;
  4. Immigration creates a profile and verifies your data;
  5. Immigration attach a visa on arrival sticker to your travel document.

D. Prohibition and Sanctions

If there is a violation committed by the visa holder, the Immigration Officer has the authority to carry out Immigration Administrative Actions against Foreigners residing in Indonesian Territory who carry out dangerous activities or suspected for endangering security and public order or do not respect or obey Indonesian law and regulations. Immigration Administrative Actions can take the form of:

  1. recording in the Prevention and Deterrence list;
  2. restrictions, changes or cancellation of Stay Permits;
  3. prohibition on being in one or several certain places in the Indonesian Territory;
  4. the requirement to live in a certain place in the Indonesian Territory;
  5. imposition of burden fees; and/or
  6. Deportation from Indonesian Territory.
